Welcome to Sunshine for Sophia
Sophia's Fund PDF Print E-mail

Sophia is the daughter of Scott and Jess Cizek. Scott is a Paramedic in North Central Pennsylvania as well as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the area. In the beginning of Feb 2010, at the age of 6 months old, Sophia was diagnosed with leukemia.

Jess has taken a leave from her job to be with Sophia, and Scott has reduced his hours also. They don't know how long they will need to maintain this adjusted schedule and the loss of income presents enormous stress, on top of worrying about little Sophia. Nonetheless, the mortgage and utility bills, and mounting hospital bills, will continue to find their way into the the Cizek's mailbox. Worrying about money is the last thing that Jess and Scott should have to deal with right now.

Family friends Liz and Tanner have worked with Jess and Scott, and their bank, to set up the Sunshine for Sophia Fund. It is very hard for Jess and Scott to ask for help financially, understandably so, it would be for many of us. Hence, we are approaching all of you on their behalf, and asking you to thoughtfully consider helping Jess, Scott, and Sophia as they work through this difficult time. Even the smallest amount can be a huge help.

The Sunshine for Sophia Fund is tax exempt for Jess and Scott, and enables people to give anonymously, as well as in name. The fund is accessed and administered only by Jess and Scott, and will be used to pay the mounting medical and household bills. It also provides all of Jess and Scott's family and friends with a fund-raising tool - in case any of you are considering asking your church, club, or social organization to donate a monetary gift to the Cizek family. Also on that note, Liz is a former professional fund-raiser, and would be happy to provide fund-raising letters to you to give to your church or organization, feel free to contact her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
